Fairfield’s charming town center is a bustling half-mile stretch of the Post Road anchored by the Fairfield Public Library, the Fairfield University Bookstore and a mix of large retailers and local shops. Fairfield’s downtown Metro-North train station is within walking distance and it’s also where you’ll find the Fairfield Theater Company (FTC), a 640-seat mixed-use theater with live music and entertainment scheduled nightly. With over 200 local eating spots — including more than 25 pizza places, Fairfield is a popular destination for foodies.

Fairfield has five miles of shoreline on Long Island Sound and includes five town beaches, two marinas with 600+ boat slips for town residents and a newly renovated beach pavilion.  Fairfield also features a town lake with a beach, lifeguards, swim lessons and a kiddie water park; two public golf courses (an 18-hole course and a par-three course) and several private clubs including The Patterson Club, Brooklawn Country Club, Country Club of Fairfield, Fairfield Beach Club and Pequot Yacht Club.

An active and health-conscious community, Fairfield’s Parks and Recreation Department runs a fitness center and organizes classes and activities for every age group. There are also plenty of options for staying in shape with a popular YMCA along with an assortment of large gyms and boutique studios.
